Auto vs P?
Yesterday evening when I went out "shooting", I decided to stay in P (Program) mode. I never shoot in P mode. Normally, if I just want to go out exploring and taking nature shots, I just set to Auto or on a Scene mode...P gets ignored most of the time. I just never understood what was different about P mode than Auto.
And after using it yesterday, I'm still not sure.
Auto is listed as a Easy Shooting Mode. Program is listed as an Advanced Shooting Mode.
So I'm sitting here playing around, shooting my dogs trying to discover what the difference is about Auto vs P and I have discovered.
#1 Auto will pop up the onboard flash automatically if the camera thinks the light is low, P does not--(by the way, the P shot w/o flash turned out more pleasing than the Auto + flash)
#2 P has something called Program Shift or Ps and I can adjust the Aperture/Shutter Speed, by turning the dial, which puts me in Ps mode while maintaining optimum exposure
Interesting.
